Born 1983, South Australia
Chayni Henry has been a resident of the Northern Territory since 1988 and has been exhibiting since 2002. She is a whimsical, self-taught artist whose work is a mélange of personal experience and text, which often shows a self-deprecating sense of humour.
In 2005 Henry’s work drew the attention of Sydney art collector Peter Fay and she was offered a solo exhibition at his residence. This was followed in 2006 by an invitation to exhibit in Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, where her work received national attention.
Chayni Henry has been exhibiting at Outstation Gallery in Darwin, and lately in Indonesia. She is widely collected by many Australian federal and state institutions.
